About Emergency Services

Forrest General’s Level II-type Emergency Services Department provides around-the-clock emergent coverage for major trauma, general medical treatment, fracture and ophthalmologic injury. Forrest General was the first hospital in Mississippi to earn designation as a trauma center.

In March 2006, Forrest General unveiled its new Emergency Center, which includes 10 Acute Care rooms, 43 Emergent Care rooms, eight Minor Care rooms and a Decontamination room, expanding the department from 19,000 to 53,000 square feet.

With more than 80,000 patients visiting the facility each year, the new Emergency Center provides an excellent service to the community.

Emergency Services also serves as medical control for Rescue 7 – the longest continually operating air ambulance service in the United States.
